Possible Causes

Brushroll jammed with hair or fibres, Worn brushroll end bearings, Faulty brushroll motor in floorhead, Damaged brushroll drive belt or gear train

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery pack and disconnect the motorised floorhead from the wand before working on it.

Free the brushroll:

  • Access the brushroll: Turn the floorhead upside down. Release the brushroll cover (usually via clips or screws) and lift out the brush bar.
  • Remove tangles: Use scissors to cut away hair, threads, and fibres from the bristles and end caps. Rotate the brushroll by hand to ensure it spins freely.
  • Check end bearings: Inspect both ends of the brushroll for melted plastic, excessive play, or stiffness. If the brushroll does not spin smoothly, the bearings are worn and the brushroll should be replaced.
  • Inspect drive components: If your Salter floorhead uses a belt or gear drive, check for snapped belts, stripped gears, or debris in the gear housing. Replace damaged parts.

Electrical checks:

  • Inspect the wiring from the floorhead connector to the brushroll motor for damage or loose plugs.
  • If the brushroll still does not turn and E3 appears immediately, the brushroll motor itself may be burnt out and the entire motorised floorhead or motor module will need replacement.
