Possible Causes

Damaged main control PCB, Loose internal wiring harness connector, Faulty power switch PCB, Moisture ingress on electronics

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery pack and ensure the charger is unplugged. Do not open the main body if your model is still under warranty; contact Salter support.

External checks:

  • Inspect for moisture: Check for signs of liquid spills or condensation around the handle, display, and vents. If the vacuum has been exposed to moisture, leave it in a warm, dry room for 24–48 hours with the battery removed.
  • Check battery fit: Ensure the battery clicks firmly into place. A loose connection can mimic a PCB fault.
  • Try a different battery: If you have a second compatible Salter battery, test with it to rule out a battery communication issue.

Internal inspection (advanced users only):

  • If out of warranty and comfortable with small electronics, remove the screws on the main body shell and carefully separate the halves.
  • Inspect the main PCB for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or loose connectors from the battery and motor.
  • Reseat any plug-in connectors firmly. Do not short any components.

If E5 persists, the main control PCB will likely need replacement as a complete module. This is typically a level of repair best handled by a service centre.
