Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charger from the mains before inspecting contacts. Do not open the charger casing; there are live components inside.
Check the charger:
- Verify mains outlet: Plug another device into the same socket to confirm it has power.
- Inspect charger LED: When you plug in the charger alone, note whether its indicator light behaves normally (refer to your Salter manual). No light may indicate a failed charger.
Inspect contacts:
- Examine the metal charging contacts on the dock and on the battery pack. Clean gently with a dry cloth or a cotton bud with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Ensure they are not bent or recessed.
- Ensure the vacuum or battery is correctly seated on the dock so that all contacts align.
Test with another charger: If possible, test with a known-good compatible Salter charger. If charging works, replace the original charger or dock.
If E6 remains with a known-good charger and clean contacts, the internal charge PCB in the battery or vacuum body is likely faulty. Replace the battery pack first; if the fault persists, the internal charge board or main PCB will require professional replacement.
