Possible Causes

Motor overheating due to blocked airflow, Hair wrapped around brushroll causing friction, Failing motor windings, Overloaded brushroll motor in floorhead

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately switch OFF the vacuum, remove the battery pack, and allow the unit to cool. Do not continue using it until the cause is identified.

Check for blockages and friction:

  • Inspect and clear blockages in the floorhead, wand, and cyclone.
  • Remove the brushroll and clear hair and fibres from the ends and bearings.

Inspect for visible damage:

  • Smell near the motor vents. A strong electrical burning smell suggests motor winding damage.
  • Check the floorhead for melted plastic near the brushroll ends.

If the burning smell returns quickly after cleaning, stop using the vacuum. Replace the affected component (brushroll or main motor assembly) and have the unit inspected by a technician to ensure it is safe.
