Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brush roll, Foreign object jammed in floor nozzle, Failed brush roll motor, Damaged brush roll drive belt or gear train

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Remove the battery pack and disconnect the floor nozzle from the wand before working on the brush roll.

  • 1. Remove brush roll: Open the brush roll access cover on the floor head (usually a latch or a coin screw). Lift out the brush roll.
  • 2. Clear obstructions: Cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the brush roll and end caps. Check the nozzle cavity for small objects (toys, stones) that could jam the roll.
  • 3. Check brush roll bearings: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it feels rough or seized, the bearings are worn and the brush roll should be replaced.
  • 4. Inspect drive system: On some Siemens motorized heads, a small belt or gear train connects the motor to the brush roll. Remove the side cover to inspect the belt for cracks, stretching, or breakage. Replace if damaged.
  • 5. Test brush motor: Reassemble the nozzle, reconnect to the wand, reinstall the battery, and run the vacuum. Toggle the brush on/off switch (if present). If the brush still does not spin and E04 returns, the brush motor or its PCB is likely faulty.

Do not continue to run the vacuum with a jammed brush roll, as this can overheat and damage the floor nozzle motor and electronics.
