Possible Causes

Misaligned dust bin, Faulty bin presence microswitch, Blocked optical sensor for bin or filter, Broken bin latch not engaging sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Remove the battery before inspecting sensors or switches.

  • 1. Remove and reinstall bin: Take off the dust bin and reinstall it carefully, ensuring it clicks into place. Check that the latch fully engages.
  • 2. Inspect bin and filter sensors: Look for small switches or optical windows where the bin and filters seat. Clean these areas with a dry cloth to remove dust.
  • 3. Check filter installation: Ensure the pre-motor and HEPA filters are correctly oriented and fully seated. Some models will not run if filters are missing or misaligned.
  • 4. Test bin switch: With the bin removed and battery out, manually press the bin presence switch. It should click. If it feels loose or does not click, the switch may be broken.
  • 5. Replace faulty parts: Replace the bin latch if it is cracked and not engaging the switch. Replace the bin presence switch or sensor if it fails mechanically or electrically.

Do not bypass bin or filter sensors; they ensure the vacuum is sealed and safe to operate.
