E12
SilverCrest Filter Not Detected / Filter Sensor Error

Vacuum shows E12 and will not start; occurs after filter washing or bin cleaning

Possible Causes

Pre-motor filter not seated correctly, Missing HEPA filter, Wet filter installed, Faulty filter presence microswitch or magnet sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Remove the battery before handling filters. Never operate the vacuum without filters installed.

  • 1. Check filter installation: Remove the dust bin and verify that the pre-motor filter is correctly oriented and fully seated in its holder. Reinstall firmly.
  • 2. Verify HEPA/post-motor filter: Ensure the rear HEPA filter (if present) is installed and the cover is fully closed until it clicks.
  • 3. Ensure filters are completely dry: If you recently washed the filter, it must dry for at least 24 hours. A damp filter can trigger E12 and damage the motor.
  • 4. Inspect filter sensor: Some SilverCrest models use a small switch or magnet near the filter frame. Check that no plastic tabs are broken and that the filter frame engages the switch properly.

If E12 persists with correctly installed, dry filters, the filter sensor or main PCB may be faulty and require service.
