Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brushroll, Foreign object jammed in floor nozzle, Worn brushroll end bearings, Faulty brush motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Remove the battery and disconnect the motorized floor nozzle from the wand before working on it.

  • 1. Remove brushroll: On most SilverCrest motorized heads, there is a locking tab or coin slot on the side. Unlock it and pull out the brushroll.
  • 2. Clear tangles: Use scissors to carefully cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the brush bristles and end caps. Avoid cutting the bristles themselves.
  • 3. Check for obstructions: Inspect the air channel and sides of the nozzle for small objects (toys, stones, etc.). Remove any debris.
  • 4. Inspect end bearings: Spin the brushroll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it feels rough or seized at the ends, the bearings may be worn and the brushroll should be replaced.
  • 5. Check drive belt (if belt-driven model): If your SilverCrest head uses a belt, inspect it for cracks or stretching. Replace if loose or damaged.
  • 6. Reassemble and test: Refit the brushroll, lock it in place, and reconnect the nozzle. Insert the battery and test. If the brush still stops and E4 appears, the brush motor or nozzle PCB may be defective.

Do not force the brush to turn under power if it is jammed; this can burn out the brush motor.
