Possible Causes
Dirty or bent battery contacts, Damaged battery communication pin, Faulty BMS PCB in SilverCrest battery pack, Faulty main control PCB in handle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the charger and remove the battery before inspecting contacts. Do not short any terminals.
- 1. Inspect contacts: Look at the metal contacts on both the battery pack and the vacuum handle. If they are dirty or oxidized, gently clean them with a dry microfiber cloth. Do not use water or abrasive materials.
- 2. Check for bent pins: Some SilverCrest packs have a smaller data/communication pin. Ensure it is straight and not recessed. If slightly bent, carefully straighten it with plastic tweezers.
- 3. Reseat battery: Insert the battery firmly until it clicks. Remove and reinsert it a few times to ensure a good connection.
- 4. Test with another battery/charger: If available, try a different compatible SilverCrest battery. If the error disappears, the original pack is likely faulty. If the error persists with multiple packs, the vacuum’s main PCB may be at fault.
- 5. Avoid DIY pack opening: Do not open the battery casing; this can be dangerous and voids warranty.
If E5 persists, the battery pack or main control board will likely need replacement by a qualified technician.
