Possible Causes

Defective power mode button, Faulty trigger switch, Damaged main control PCB, Software fault in control module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Remove the battery before inspecting buttons or opening any housing.

  • 1. Check for stuck buttons: Press the power mode button repeatedly. If it feels sticky or does not click, debris may be lodged around it. Clean around the button with a dry brush or compressed air.
  • 2. Inspect trigger operation: On models with a trigger, ensure it returns fully when released. If it feels loose or does not engage, the internal microswitch may be worn.
  • 3. Power cycle: Remove the battery for 1–2 minutes, then reinsert and test again. This can reset minor control glitches.
  • 4. Test in different configurations: Try running the vacuum without the floor nozzle or wand to reduce load. If turbo still cannot be selected, the issue is likely electronic rather than overload.
  • 5. Firmware reset (if supported): Some SilverCrest models allow a reset by holding the power and mode buttons together for several seconds (check your manual). Perform this only as described by the manufacturer.

If E6 remains and the buttons feel mechanically sound, the main control PCB or button board may need replacement.
