Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery. Never work on the brush roll while the unit is powered.
- 1. Remove the floor head: Detach the motorized floor head from the wand. Flip it over on a flat surface.
- 2. Access the brush roll: Open the brush roll cover (release latches or remove screws as per your TCL model). Lift out the brush roll.
- 3. Clear obstructions: Use scissors to cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the brush and end caps. Ensure both ends rotate freely.
- 4. Inspect bearings and drive: Check the end caps and drive side for melted plastic, burnt smell, or broken belt/gear. If the brush roll is warped or the bearings are seized, replace the brush roll assembly.
- 5. Check electrical contacts: Inspect the metal contacts on the neck of the floor head and the wand for corrosion or bent pins. Clean gently.
- 6. Test without load: Reinstall the brush roll and run the vacuum with the head lifted off the floor for a few seconds. If E4 appears immediately, the brush motor or internal PCB is likely faulty.
Next step: If cleaning and inspection do not resolve E4, replace the complete TCL motorized floor head assembly or have a technician replace the internal brush motor and PCB if parts are available.
