Possible Causes

Overheated battery pack, Failed NTC temperature sensor inside battery, Loose temperature sensor connection to BMS, Charging in an environment that is too hot or too cold

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the vacuum from the charger and detach the battery pack if possible. Do not continue charging a hot battery.

  • 1. Allow cooling: If the battery feels warm or hot, let it cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour away from direct sunlight or heaters.
  • 2. Check ambient temperature: Ensure you are charging and using the TCL cordless vacuum between approximately 5°C and 35°C (41°F–95°F). Extreme temperatures can trigger E5.
  • 3. Reseat the battery: Remove and reinstall the battery pack to ensure a solid connection between the pack and the vacuum's contacts.
  • 4. Try a different location: Move the charging dock to a cooler, well‑ventilated area and attempt charging again.

If E5 persists: The internal temperature sensor or BMS inside the battery pack is likely defective. Because TCL battery packs are sealed, do not open them. Replace the battery pack with a genuine TCL replacement or contact TCL service for battery diagnostics.
