Battery Temperature / Over‑temperature Protection
Vacuum displays E9 and runs only at low power or shuts off under load

Possible Causes
Battery pack temperature sensor fault, Battery overheating due to high ambient temperature, Blocked cooling vents around battery compartment, Internal battery cell degradation causing excess heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the battery feels very hot, remove it carefully and place it on a non‑flammable surface away from flammable materials. Do not cover it.
- Step 1 – Allow cooling: Let the battery cool to room temperature (at least 30–60 minutes). Do not place it in a refrigerator or freezer.
- Step 2 – Check vents: Inspect the battery compartment and surrounding vents for dust buildup. Clean with a dry cloth or compressed air (short bursts, from a distance).
- Step 3 – Avoid heavy use in turbo mode: If E9 appears only in turbo mode on thick carpets, reduce usage time in that mode and allow cooling breaks.
- Step 4 – Test again: After cooling and cleaning, reinstall the battery and test. If E9 appears immediately from cold, the temperature sensor or BMS is likely faulty.
When to call a technician: Recurrent E9 with a cool battery suggests a defective temperature sensor or BMS. Replace the battery pack with a genuine Toshiba pack or have it tested professionally.
