Battery Communication / Fuel Gauge Error
Vacuum shows F6; LED battery indicator behaves erratically (jumps from full to empty)
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose battery connector, Faulty battery gauge IC in pack, Corroded contacts between battery and main body, Firmware mismatch between battery and main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before cleaning contacts.
- Step 1 – Clean and reseat battery: Wipe the battery and body contacts with a dry cloth. Reinstall the battery firmly until it clicks.
- Step 2 – Full discharge and recharge: Run the vacuum until it shuts off, then fully recharge without interruption. This can recalibrate the fuel gauge on some Toshiba packs.
- Step 3 – Test with another battery: If available, test with a second pack. If F6 disappears, the original battery’s gauge circuit is faulty.
When to call a technician: Persistent F6 with multiple batteries suggests a main PCB communication issue. Professional service is recommended.
