Possible Causes
Restricted airflow through filters, Blocked exhaust vents, Continuous use on MAX mode, Failing motor bearings causing excess heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power off the unit and remove the battery. Allow the vacuum to cool for at least 30 minutes before further inspection.
- Allow full cool-down: Place the vacuum in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Do not attempt to restart repeatedly while hot.
- Clean all filters: Remove pre-filter, cyclone mesh, and HEPA exhaust filter. Tap off dust and, if specified by Xiaomi, wash with water and dry completely. A clogged HEPA filter is a common cause of overheating.
- Check air vents: Inspect the motor housing vents and exhaust grill for lint buildup. Clean with a soft brush or compressed air.
- Reduce MAX usage: Avoid running continuously on Turbo/MAX mode for long periods, especially on carpets. Use standard mode for routine cleaning.
- Test after cleaning: Reassemble and run the vacuum in standard mode. If it overheats and shuts down again within a few minutes, the motor may be failing and should be replaced.
