Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brush roll, Jammed end bearings, Stripped drive belt or gear, Faulty brush motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery and detach the floor head before working on the brush roll.

  • Remove the brush roll: Release the side cap or latch (often coin‑turn or sliding) and lift out the brush bar.
  • Clear obstructions: Cut away hair, threads, and fibres from the brush and end caps using scissors. Rotate the brush by hand to ensure it spins freely.
  • Check end bearings: Inspect both ends of the brush for melted plastic, seized bearings, or debris. Clean and ensure smooth rotation.
  • Inspect drive system: If accessible, check the small belt or gear train between the brush and motor. Replace if the belt is broken, stretched, or teeth are stripped.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll, ensuring it is seated correctly and the end cap is locked. Reattach the head, refit the battery, and test.

If E5 returns immediately and the brush still does not spin, the brush motor or internal wiring in the floor head is likely faulty. The complete motorised floor nozzle assembly is usually replaced as a unit.
