Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before adjusting the dust bin or latches.
- Refit the dust bin: Remove the bin completely and then reinstall it, ensuring it clicks firmly into place. Check that the release button is not stuck.
- Inspect latch and hooks: Look for cracked plastic, bent hooks, or debris preventing full engagement. Clean any dust from the latch area.
- Check for play: Gently wiggle the bin; excessive movement may prevent the interlock switch from closing.
- Test while pressing bin inwards: With the battery refitted, press the bin firmly towards the body while pulling the trigger. If it starts, the latch or switch alignment is marginal.
If E8 remains and the bin is clearly secure, the bin detection microswitch or magnetic sensor inside the main body is likely faulty. This requires disassembly of the handle unit and should be done by a qualified technician.
