Possible Causes
Partially blocked drain hose, Debris intermittently jamming drain pump impeller, Sump contamination with grease and food sludge, Weak drain pump motor on AEG dishwasher
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before inspecting internal components.
- Deep-clean sump and filters: Remove all filters and soak them in hot soapy water. Use a soft brush to scrub away grease. Wipe the sump area thoroughly to remove sludge that can float and intermittently block the pump inlet.
- Flush drain hose: Disconnect the drain hose from the sink trap and lower it into a bucket. Pour hot water through the hose from the dishwasher end (if accessible) to flush out grease and debris. Reconnect securely.
- Check pump impeller: Access the pump impeller through the sump cover or from underneath (depending on model). Ensure the impeller spins freely and is not loose on the shaft.
- Test multiple cycles: Run several short programs to confirm consistent draining. Listen for the pump sound; irregular or noisy operation suggests a failing pump.
- Replace pump if symptoms persist: If intermittent drainage continues, the drain pump motor is likely worn and should be replaced.
