Dishwasher shows F4E1 and will not fill with water at the start of the cycle.

Safety first: Turn off power and close the dishwasher's water supply valve.

• Check household water: Confirm the shutoff valve under the sink is fully open and that other fixtures have normal water pressure.
• Inspect fill hose: Look for kinks or sharp bends in the water supply line to the dishwasher.
• Clean inlet screen: Remove the lower access panel, locate the water inlet valve, and disconnect the supply line. Inspect and clean the small screen filter inside the valve fitting.
• Test valve coil: Disconnect the valve wires and measure resistance across the solenoid terminals. An open reading indicates a bad valve.

Repair action: Replace the water inlet valve if the coil is open or the valve is mechanically stuck. Always use Teflon tape on threaded fittings and check for leaks after restoring water.
