Possible Causes
Shorted drain pump, stuck relay on control board, miswired drain pump harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and water.
- Observe behavior: Start a cycle and listen. If the drain pump runs continuously from the start, suspect a stuck relay or shorted pump.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the lower access panel and verify the drain pump wiring harness is correctly connected and not pinched or shorted to ground.
- Test drain pump: Disconnect the pump and measure resistance across its terminals. Compare to the tech sheet. A very low resistance or short to ground indicates a bad pump.
- Check control board: If the pump stops when unplugged but the board still sends power when it should not, the drain relay on the control is likely stuck closed.
Repair action: Replace the drain pump if it is shorted. If the pump tests good but is powered at the wrong times, replace the main control board.
