Safety: Disconnect power. Overheating components can be hazardous.

• Inspect heater area: Check for signs of overheating, such as discoloration or melted plastic near the heater.
• Descale heater: If accessible, inspect the heater for heavy scale buildup. Use a dishwasher descaler in an empty cycle to reduce buildup.
• Test NTC sensor: Verify the temperature sensor is reading correctly with a multimeter. Replace if out of spec.
• Control board check: If the heater appears to run excessively or when it should be off, the control board relay may be stuck and the board should be replaced.
