Possible Causes

Blocked circulation pump impeller, Failed circulation pump motor, Wiring issue to circulation pump, Foreign object in sump blocking water flow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and shut off water before accessing internal components.

  • Clean filters and sump: Remove lower rack and filters. Inspect the sump for foreign objects (glass, plastic, bones) that could block the circulation pump inlet.
  • Listen for pump operation: Restore power and start a cycle. After filling, listen for the wash pump. A loud humming with no water movement suggests a jammed or failed pump.
  • Access circulation pump: Remove the lower front panel and, if necessary, tilt the dishwasher back slightly (support it securely). Locate the Asko circulation pump attached to the sump. Check for visible leaks or damage.
  • Check impeller: With power disconnected, remove the pump (usually held by clamps or screws) and inspect the impeller for debris. Clean thoroughly and ensure it spins freely.
  • If pump is clear but still not running: Use a multimeter to check for continuity of the pump motor. If open, replace the circulation pump assembly. If the pump tests good but never receives voltage during wash, the main control board or wiring harness may be faulty and professional service is recommended.
