Dishwasher is very noisy during wash or drain, with grinding or rattling sounds.

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the dishwasher before inspection.

• Check loading: Ensure long utensils are placed horizontally and do not protrude through the basket where they can hit the spray arms.
• Inspect spray arms: Spin the spray arms by hand to check for free movement and contact with dishes.
• Check sump for debris: Remove filters and look for glass or hard objects in the sump. Remove carefully.
• Listen to pumps: If grinding occurs only during drain, suspect the drain pump. If during wash, suspect the circulation pump. Access the base and inspect the relevant pump for debris.
• Replace worn pump: If noise persists and the impeller and housing are clear, the pump bearings may be worn and the pump should be replaced.
