Possible Causes

Circulation pump impeller jammed, Foreign object in pump housing, Circulation pump motor winding failure, Wiring fault between control module and circulation pump

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap before accessing internal components. Sharp edges may be present inside the machine.

  • Check for simple blockage: Remove the lower basket, take out the filter assembly and the metal/plastic sump cover. Use a torch to look into the sump area for glass, bones, or plastic obstructing the pump inlet.
  • Access the pump (if comfortable): Lay the dishwasher carefully on its back (protect the floor). Remove the bottom cover to access the circulation pump. Check the pump impeller for free movement by gently turning it with a finger or insulated tool.
  • Clear debris: If you find debris around the impeller, remove it carefully. Do not force the impeller.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the bottom cover, stand the dishwasher upright, reconnect power and water, and run a short cycle. If E02 persists, the circulation pump motor is likely defective.
  • Professional replacement: Replacing the circulation pump on Balay dishwashers usually requires removing side panels and the base. If you are not experienced, have a technician replace the circulation pump assembly.
