Possible Causes

Leak into base tray activating float switch, Overfilling due to faulty inlet valve, Blocked pressure chamber or pressure switch hose, Loose hose or clamp inside cabinet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and turn off the water supply. Expect water spillage when tilting the appliance.

  • Check for leaks: Carefully pull the Baumatic dishwasher out from under the counter. Tilt it slightly backward or to one side (about 30–45°) over towels to see if water drains from the base.
  • Dry the base: Remove the lower front panel (if possible) and gently dry the base tray and float switch area with towels or a sponge. Do not damage the float or microswitch.
  • Inspect internal hoses: With side panels removed, inspect circulation hoses, drain hose connections, and the sump seal for signs of drips or mineral tracks. Tighten hose clamps and replace any cracked hoses.
  • Check detergent use: Over-foaming from hand-wash liquid can cause leaks. Use only dishwasher tablets or powder and correct dosage.
  • Test run: Once dry and reassembled, run a short cycle while observing for leaks. If E4 returns, a component such as the inlet valve, circulation pump seal, or sump gasket may need replacement.
