Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and be prepared for water spillage when removing hoses.

• Listen for pump operation: Start a cycle and listen. If you hear only humming or nothing when it should be washing, the circulation pump may be jammed or failed.
• Check for obstructions: Remove filters and inspect the sump. Some Baumatic models allow access to the circulation pump impeller from inside the tub; remove any foreign objects.
• Access pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back (with towels) and remove the bottom cover. Locate the circulation pump and motor assembly attached to the sump.
• Inspect and test: Check for leaks around the pump seal, burnt smell, or signs of overheating. Manually turn the impeller (with power disconnected); it should rotate freely.
• Replace if necessary: If the motor is seized or open-circuit, replace the circulation pump assembly. This is a complex repair; many users will prefer a professional service.
