Possible Causes
Broken glass or bones in circulation pump, Loose items hitting spray arms, Worn pump bearings, Loose mounting brackets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before reaching into the sump or accessing the base.
- Check inside tub: Remove racks and inspect the bottom for loose cutlery, glass shards, or other items that could contact the spray arms.
- Inspect spray arms: Ensure spray arms are firmly attached and not contacting dishes or racks. Replace if cracked or wobbling excessively.
- Check sump and pump: Remove filters and look into the sump. Remove any visible debris. If noise persists, access the circulation pump from below and inspect the impeller for foreign objects.
- Assess bearings: If the pump impeller is clear but still noisy and rough when spun by hand, the bearings may be worn, requiring pump replacement.
Do not continue running the dishwasher with loud grinding noises, as further damage may occur.
