Possible Causes
Failed circulation motor, Faulty motor capacitor, Jammed pump, Defective motor triac on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing the base of the dishwasher.
- Listen for motor attempt: Start a cycle and listen. A brief hum followed by E10 suggests the motor is trying but cannot start.
- Check for mechanical blockage: Remove filters and inspect the sump for foreign objects. Access the circulation pump from the base and check that the impeller turns freely.
- Inspect capacitor: Many Becken circulation pumps use a start capacitor mounted nearby. Check for bulging, cracks, or leakage. Replace if suspect.
- Electrical test: With the appliance unplugged, measure motor winding resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Control board: If motor and capacitor are good, the control board’s motor drive circuit (triac/relay) may be defective and require board replacement.
Due to the need for electrical testing and possible board work, this repair is best handled by a technician.
