Possible Causes
Faulty regeneration valve, Blocked softener resin tank, Wiring issue to softener valve, Control board softener circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap before accessing side panels.
- Check salt level: Ensure the salt reservoir is filled with dishwasher salt and the cap is tight. Run a few cycles to see if performance improves.
- Access softener valve: Remove the side panel (usually left) to locate the water softener assembly and regeneration valve (small solenoid valve attached to the softener).
- Inspect wiring: Check the valve connector and harness for corrosion or damage. Clean and reseat the connector.
- Valve test (advanced): With the appliance unplugged, measure resistance across the valve coil. An open circuit indicates a failed valve.
- Check for blockages: Inspect the brine hose between the salt container and softener for kinks or blockages.
If the regeneration valve is defective, replace it or the complete softener assembly as supplied for your Becken model.
