Possible Causes
Water leak into base tray, Stuck or faulty float switch in base, Overfilling due to defective inlet valve, Blocked pressure chamber or hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap immediately. There may be water in the base of the appliance.
- Check for visible leaks: Look around the front and sides of the Becken dishwasher for water on the floor. If present, dry the area and note where it seems to originate (door, hose, side panel).
- Empty the base tray: Carefully pull the dishwasher out from under the counter. Tilt it slightly backward (about 30°) to allow water in the base tray to drain out onto towels. This may temporarily clear E4.
- Inspect hoses and seals: With side panels removed, inspect the circulation pump, drain pump, inlet valve, and hoses for drips or mineral tracks. Check the door gasket and bottom door seal for tears or deformation.
- Check float switch: In the base tray, locate the polystyrene float and micro-switch. Ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck by grease or debris. Clean and dry the area thoroughly.
- Test a short cycle: Reinstall the dishwasher, restore power and water, and run a short program while observing for leaks. If E4 returns, a component (pump seal, hose, or valve) is likely leaking and must be replaced.
Persistent E4 errors due to leaks should be handled by a technician to prevent water damage.
