Possible Causes
Defective regeneration valve, Blocked softener resin tank, No salt in softener, Wiring fault to regeneration valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the water tap before accessing side panels.
- Check salt level: Open the salt reservoir cap in the tub bottom and ensure it is filled with dishwasher salt. Top up if empty and run a regeneration cycle if available.
- Inspect for salt bridges: Break up any hardened salt at the top of the reservoir with a spoon handle and add fresh salt.
- Access regeneration valve: Remove the side panel to locate the water softener and its small solenoid valve. Check for blockages in the hoses connected to the softener.
- Electrical test: Measure the coil resistance of the regeneration valve and check for 230V during regeneration (qualified persons only). Replace the valve if open or not actuating.
