Possible Causes
Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Stuck heater relay on control board, Faulty control board temperature regulation, Wiring short in heater circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power immediately. Overheating can be dangerous.
- 1. Allow cooling: Let the dishwasher cool completely before working on it.
- 2. Inspect NTC sensor: Access the sump or heater housing to locate the NTC sensor. Remove and test its resistance at room temperature; a very low or zero resistance reading indicates a shorted sensor.
- 3. Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the NTC to the control board for damage or shorts to chassis.
- 4. Control board relay: If the heater remains energized when it should be off, the heater relay on the control board may be welded closed. In this case, the control board must be replaced.
Due to the risk of overheating and fire, have a qualified technician perform final diagnosis and repair.
