Possible Causes
Failed circulation pump motor, Blocked circulation pump impeller, Wiring fault between control board and circulation pump, Seized pump bearings due to debris or scale
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- 1. Confirm lack of circulation: During the wash phase, briefly open the door. If you do not hear strong water spray and the arms are not moving, circulation is likely lost.
- 2. Check spray arms: Remove upper and lower spray arms and clean out any clogged jets. Ensure they spin freely when reinstalled.
- 3. Access the circulation pump: Remove the toe-kick and bottom panel to locate the main circulation pump assembly attached to the sump.
- 4. Inspect impeller: Disconnect the pump and check for broken glass, seeds, or other debris jamming the impeller. Clear obstructions carefully.
- 5. Test the motor: With a multimeter, check for continuity across the motor windings. An open circuit or strong burnt smell indicates a failed pump that must be replaced.
If the pump tests good but E6 persists, the wiring harness or control board output may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
