Possible Causes
Defective door lock assembly, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Wiring fault between door lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the door assembly. The door can be heavy; support it properly.
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and is not obstructed by dishes or racks. Try gently lifting the door while starting a program to see if contact is intermittent.
- 2. Inspect latch and strike: Examine the plastic or metal strike on the tub and the latch mechanism in the door for wear, cracks, or misalignment. Adjust or replace as needed.
- 3. Access door lock: Remove the inner door panel screws to expose the door lock assembly. Check the microswitch and mechanical parts for damage.
- 4. Test door switch: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the door switch when the latch is engaged. If there is no continuity, replace the door lock / door switch assembly.
- 5. Verify wiring: Inspect the harness from the door lock to the control board for broken conductors, especially where it flexes at the door hinge.
