Possible Causes
Partially blocked drain hose, Obstructed sink trap connection, Weak drain pump, Foreign object intermittently blocking pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and be prepared for water spillage when removing hoses.
- 1. Clean filters and sump: Remove and clean the filters. Check the sump for debris that could intermittently block the pump inlet.
- 2. Inspect drain hose routing: Ensure the hose has a proper high loop and is not kinked or crushed behind the cabinet.
- 3. Detach and flush hose: Disconnect the hose from the sink trap and flush it with hot water to remove grease and food buildup.
- 4. Check sink trap: Clean the spigot on the sink trap where the hose connects. Remove any blanking plug if the dishwasher was newly installed.
- 5. Evaluate pump performance: If water drains very slowly despite a clear hose, the drain pump may be weak and should be replaced.
