Possible Causes

Open or shorted NTC sensor, Corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring harness between NTC and control board, Faulty control board input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains power before accessing the base or sump.

  • 1. Locate NTC sensor: On Brandt dishwashers the NTC is usually clipped into the sump or mounted on the heater / circulation pump housing.
  • 2. Inspect connector: Unplug the NTC connector and check for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins. Clean and dry if necessary, then reconnect firmly.
  • 3. Measure resistance: With a multimeter, measure the NTC resistance at room temperature. Typical values are between 10–60 kΩ depending on model. If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short), replace the sensor.
  • 4. Check wiring: Follow the harness from the NTC to the control board, looking for cuts, pinches, or burnt sections. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • 5. Control board check: If a known-good NTC and wiring are present but E6 persists, the main control board's sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement.
