Possible Causes

Stuck diverter valve, Faulty diverter motor, Blocked spray arm feed channels, Defective water distribution sensor (if fitted)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and water supply before working underneath the dishwasher.

  • 1. Check spray arms: Remove upper and lower spray arms. Rinse under running water and clear any blocked jets with a toothpick. Ensure they rotate freely when reinstalled.
  • 2. Access diverter valve: On many Brandt models, a diverter valve is integrated into the circulation pump or mounted on the sump to direct water between spray arms. Remove the bottom panel to locate it.
  • 3. Inspect for obstructions: Detach the diverter housing and check for debris preventing movement of the internal disc or flap. Clean thoroughly.
  • 4. Test diverter motor: With a multimeter, check the diverter motor coil for continuity. If open-circuit, replace the diverter assembly. Also verify that the control board sends voltage to the motor during operation.
  • 5. Replace faulty parts: If cleaning does not resolve E8 and the motor or position sensor is defective, replace the diverter valve / water distribution assembly.
