Possible Causes
Failed drain pump motor, Foreign object jammed in drain pump, Severely clogged drain hose, Blocked sump outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and shut off water. Use towels to catch any water when opening the sump or hoses.
- Remove standing water: Use a cup or sponge to bail out as much water as possible from the tub.
- Clean filter and sump: Remove the lower rack and filter assembly. Inspect the sump opening for debris (bones, glass, labels). Remove any obstructions.
- Access the drain pump: Pull the dishwasher out from the cabinet (remove mounting screws at the top or sides). Lay a towel under the unit. From the bottom front, locate the drain pump attached to the sump with a twist-lock or screws.
- Inspect for blockage: Disconnect the pump electrical connector. Remove the pump from the sump. Check the impeller for broken pieces or foreign objects. Clear any debris and ensure the impeller spins freely.
- Check the drain hose: Disconnect the hose from the pump and from the sink/disposal. Flush it with water to confirm it is clear.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the pump and hose, restore power, and run a rinse cycle. If C2 persists and the pump hums but does not move water, replace the drain pump assembly.
