Possible Causes
Water in base pan activating flood float switch, Leaking tub or hose, Loose sump or pump seal, Faulty flood float switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and shut off water. Be cautious of sharp metal edges when removing panels.
- Check for leaks inside the tub: Open the door and inspect the bottom of the tub, corners, and door gasket for obvious leaks or standing water.
- Pull the dishwasher out: Remove mounting screws and gently slide the unit out. Tilt the dishwasher slightly forward and to one side to see if water drains from the base pan (place towels or a shallow pan underneath).
- Dry the base pan: If water is present, soak it up with towels or a sponge. Allow the base area to dry completely. A small fan can speed drying.
- Inspect hoses and seals: With the lower access panel removed, inspect the inlet hose, drain hose, circulation pump, sump gasket, and diverter area for signs of water trails or mineral deposits indicating a leak source.
- Check the flood float switch: Locate the float switch in the base pan. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the raised position. If corroded or water-damaged, it should be replaced.
- Test for recurrence: Restore power and run a short cycle while observing the underside for leaks. If C3 returns without visible leaks, the float switch or control may be faulty and professional diagnosis is recommended.
