Dishwasher displays C4; cycle may end early and dishes may be left dirty with little or no water spray.

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and shut off water. Allow the unit to cool before working near the heater or pump.

• Verify water fill: Start a cycle and listen for fill. After a few minutes (with power restored for this test only), open the door and check that there is 1/2–1 inch of water in the bottom. If not, address fill issues first.
• Check spray arms: Remove and rinse the lower and upper spray arms. Clear any blocked jets with a toothpick and hot water.
• Clean filter and sump: Remove the lower rack and filter assembly. Clean thoroughly and inspect the sump for debris that could block the circulation pump inlet.
• Access the circulation pump: Pull the dishwasher out and remove the bottom access panel. Locate the main wash/circulation pump attached to the sump.
• Inspect the pump: Disconnect power, then unplug the motor connector. Remove the pump from the sump. Check the impeller for broken blades or obstructions. Ensure it spins freely.
• Electrical check (advanced): Using a multimeter, check the motor windings for continuity according to Café/GE specifications. An open or shorted motor requires replacement.
• Reassemble and test: Reinstall the pump, restore power, and run a wash cycle. If C4 persists and there is no spray action, replace the circulation pump assembly.
