Possible Causes
Stuck detergent dispenser door, Failed dispenser actuator, Obstructed vent or fan, Control board dispenser drive fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing inner door panels.
- Check dispenser door: Open the dishwasher door and inspect the detergent cup. Manually open and close the dispenser door to ensure it moves freely and latches properly.
- Look for obstructions: Make sure large dishes or pans are not blocking the dispenser door from opening during the cycle.
- Clean the dispenser: Remove any caked-on detergent or rinse aid residue. Wipe the area with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Inspect vent area: Locate the vent on the inner door. Ensure it is not blocked by labels, plastic, or debris. Clean any buildup.
- Access inner door components: With power off, remove the inner door panel screws to expose the dispenser assembly and vent fan (if equipped). Check wiring connections to the dispenser and vent motor.
- Test dispenser actuator: If accessible, apply 120 VAC (only if you are qualified) or use a multimeter to verify the actuator coil is not open. A failed actuator or dispenser assembly should be replaced.
- If C8 persists: If the dispenser and vent are mechanically sound, the control board may not be driving them correctly. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
