Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose, Blocked air gap, Failed drain pump, Obstructed sump outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and shut off water. Expect some water spillage when opening the sump or hoses.
- Clear standing water: Remove as much water as possible from the tub with a cup or sponge.
- Clean filter and sump: Remove the lower rack and filter assembly. Rinse and clean thoroughly. Inspect the sump for debris blocking the drain path.
- Check air gap and sink connection: If you have an air gap, remove the cap and clean out any debris. Ensure the sink/disposal inlet is clear and the disposal knockout plug is removed.
- Inspect drain hose: Check for kinks or clogs. Disconnect from the sink/disposal and from the dishwasher pump, then flush with water.
- Test drain pump: With the unit pulled out and power restored briefly, start a drain cycle and listen for the pump. If it hums but does not move water, or is silent, the pump may be failed and should be replaced.
