Possible Causes

Failed rinse NTC sensor, Broken or shorted sensor wiring, Sensor not fully immersed in rinse water, Control board analog input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the rinse system to cool before handling sensors.

Steps to resolve:

  • Locate rinse temperature probe: Identify the sensor installed in the rinse line or booster tank on the Champion dishwasher.
  • Inspect installation: Ensure the probe is properly seated and immersed in the rinse water stream, not hanging loose or partially out of the fitting.
  • Check wiring and connectors: Look for loose plugs, damaged insulation, or corrosion. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Measure sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at known temperatures. Compare to Champion’s NTC chart. Replace the probe if readings are incorrect.
  • Evaluate control board: If a new sensor does not resolve E16, the control board input may be defective and require replacement.

When to call a technician: If you cannot access the sensor safely or lack the specifications, contact a Champion service technician.
