Possible Causes
Stuck water inlet valve, Blocked or kinked pressure switch hose, Faulty pressure switch or level sensor, Control board not closing inlet valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate electrical power and close the water supply. Be prepared for water spillage when opening panels.
- Drain excess water: If the tank is overfilled, manually drain using the machine's drain cycle (if possible) or by carefully removing the drain hose from the standpipe and lowering it into a bucket. Mop up any water from the base tray.
- Inspect the water inlet valve: With power off, disconnect the wiring from the inlet solenoid valve. Turn on the water supply briefly. If water continues to flow into the machine with the valve de‑energised, the valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
- Check pressure switch hose and air trap: Locate the pressure switch / level sensor and its thin rubber hose. Remove the hose and clean out any grease or limescale. Clean the air trap or standpipe on the tank where the hose connects. Refit securely to avoid air leaks.
- Test the pressure switch: Using a multimeter, check continuity across the switch terminals while gently blowing into the hose connection. The contacts should change state as pressure increases. If not, replace the pressure switch / level sensor.
- Inspect control board output: If the valve is good and the pressure system is clear, but the valve remains energised too long, the main control PCB may be faulty. This should be confirmed and replaced only by a qualified Classeq service engineer.
