Possible Causes
Faulty door microswitch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door handle or latch mechanism, Damaged wiring to door switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before removing door panels or working on the interlock.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and evenly. Look for bent hinges or obstructions preventing full closure.
- Inspect latch and strike: Open the door and examine the door latch assembly and the mating strike on the cabinet. Tighten loose screws and adjust alignment so the latch fully engages the switch.
- Test door microswitch: Remove the inner door panel to access the door switch. With a multimeter, check continuity across the switch terminals while operating the latch. Replace the switch if it does not change state reliably.
- Check wiring harness: Follow the harness from the door switch into the control area. Look for broken conductors where the cable flexes, and repair or replace as needed.
- Reset and test: Reassemble, restore power, and start a cycle. If E6 persists with a known‑good switch and latch, the input circuit on the control PCB may be faulty and require professional replacement.
