Possible Causes
Faulty boiler level probe, Scaled or contaminated boiler level probe, Faulty boiler fill solenoid valve, Wiring fault between probe and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and water. Allow the boiler to cool before opening any covers.
- Locate boiler level probe: On Classeq models with a separate boiler, find the stainless‑steel level probe screwed into the top or side of the boiler.
- Clean the probe: Remove the probe carefully. Descale using a food‑safe descaler or white vinegar to remove limescale deposits. Rinse thoroughly and refit with a new sealing washer if required.
- Check wiring: Inspect the single core or multi‑core cable from the probe to the control PCB. Ensure the spade or plug connector is tight and free from corrosion.
- Test boiler fill valve: Identify the boiler fill solenoid valve. Check the inlet filter for debris and confirm the valve coil has correct resistance. Replace if stuck closed or electrically open.
- Run a test cycle: Restore power and water, then start a cycle. If E9 persists, the control PCB's level sensing circuit may be faulty and should be checked by a Classeq technician.
