• Clean inlet strainer: Locate the incoming water line strainer (usually at the connection to the machine). Shut off water, remove the strainer, and clean out debris under running water. Reinstall and open the valve.
• Inspect fill solenoid valve: With power OFF, access the fill valve assembly. Check for clogged inlet screen and mineral buildup. Clean or replace the valve if the coil is open or the valve is stuck closed.
• Check float and float switch: Open the tank and verify the mechanical float moves freely up and down. Remove any debris or scale around the float guide. Test the float switch with a multimeter for proper continuity when raised and lowered.
• Test operation: Restore power and water, then start a cycle. If E1 persists after cleaning and verifying water supply, the fill valve or float switch likely needs replacement.
