Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector, Faulty control board analog input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the tank to cool before touching any sensor parts.
- Locate the sensor: Find the NTC probe screwed into the tank wall or mounted in a pocket.
- Inspect connections: Check the plug and wiring for corrosion, loose pins, or damage. Clean and reseat the connector.
- Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected, use a multimeter to measure resistance at room temperature. Compare with Comenda’s specified values. A reading of near 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Check harness: Wiggle the harness while measuring to detect intermittent faults. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Replace sensor: If readings are out of range, install a new NTC probe with appropriate sealing.
