Possible Causes

Blocked drain pump impeller, Clogged drain hose or air break, Obstructed tank filter or sump strainer, Defective drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and ensure the machine has cooled before working near water.

  • Clean tank filters: Open the door, remove the stainless steel tank filter and sump strainer. Rinse under running water and remove any food debris, glass, or labels.
  • Check drain pump area: Access the sump area and visually inspect the drain pump inlet. Remove any foreign objects blocking the impeller.
  • Inspect drain hose: Follow the drain hose from the pump to the standpipe or sink. Straighten any kinks and check for blockages at the connection to the waste system or air break.
  • Check air break (if fitted): On some Comenda models, remove the air break cover and clean internal passages of grease and scale.
  • Test drain pump: With power disconnected, check that the pump impeller spins freely by hand. If seized or very stiff, the pump likely needs replacement. If you have a multimeter, test the pump coil for continuity.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit filters and panels, restore power, and run a drain or short cycle to confirm the error is cleared.

If E2 persists, the drain pump or control board triac may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
