Possible Causes

Blocked pressure chamber or hose,Defective pressure switch,Debris in sump affecting water level sensing,Control board misinterpreting level signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and shut off water before working underneath or inside the sump area.

  • 1. Clean filters and sump: Remove the lower basket, take out the coarse and fine filters, and clean thoroughly. Check the sump area for food debris, glass, or grease buildup that could affect water level.
  • 2. Inspect pressure hose: Access the side or bottom of the dishwasher (depending on model). Locate the thin rubber or plastic hose running from the sump/air chamber to the pressure switch. Ensure it is not kinked, blocked, or detached.
  • 3. Clear the pressure chamber: If the chamber where the hose connects is clogged with grease or limescale, carefully clean it with warm water and a small brush. Do not enlarge any openings.
  • 4. Check pressure switch connections: Verify the electrical connector on the pressure switch is secure and free of corrosion.
  • 5. Test run: Reassemble, restore power and water, and run a short cycle while monitoring the fill level. The water should not rise above the bottom of the door seal.

When to call a technician: If E04 recurs and the dishwasher appears to overfill or underfill, the pressure switch or control board may require replacement.
